MATERIALS & CARE

WHAT IS YOUR JEWELRY MADE OF?
We use Gold-Filled, Gold-Plated, and Vermeil materials. The product page of each item will state which material the piece is made from. If you have a known allergy, please read the product descriptions or contact us with questions before placing your order.

WHAT IS GOLD-FILLED?
Gold-filled components contain 100x more gold than gold-plated components and can last a lifetime with proper wear and care. Gold-filled is an actual layer of gold pressure bonded to another material, usually brass or silver.

WHAT IS GOLD-PLATED?
Gold-plated jewellery consists of a brass or copper base dipped in a layer of gold and electroplated to the base material.

WHAT IS VERMEIL?
Gold Vermeil is .925 Sterling Silver that has been expertly plated with a very thick layer of gold. To be considered 'Vermeil', the industry regulated gold thickness must be no less than 2.5 microns. We use 18k gold, 2.5 microns, layered over .925 Sterling Silver.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY JEWELRY?
We recommend removing your jewellery before exercising, showering and swimming. Avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions and oils. Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners on your jewellery, as they can increase wear. Isonia is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery.

CAN I SHOWER / SWIM IN MY JEWELRY?
For best care, do not shower or swim in your jewellery. We recommend you store it in a cool, dry place.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY JEWELRY?
To clean, we recommend using a solution of warm water and detergent-free soap and then pat dry with a jewellery safe cloth.

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY JEWELRY?
We recommend storing your jewellery in our bags to avoid scratching.

MY JEWELRY IS TURNING AFTER WEARING IT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
This may be caused by a metal to skin reaction. Every person's skin oils react differently to different types of metals. Isonia is not responsible for your skin's reaction to these metals. Gold-plated jewellery will tarnish over time. Follow our care instructions to prolong the life of your jewellery.
